Scotch Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. margarine
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. light brown sugar
    3/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation
    Melt margarine in saucepan.
    Add brown sugar over low heat until blended.
    Cool slightly.
    Add egg, beat well.
    Add mixed dry ingredients.
    Add vanilla and nuts.
    Pour into 8-inch square greased, wax paper-lined pan.
    Grease top of wax paper also.
    Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then cut.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
