Ingredients

1 c. (2 sticks) butter
3/4 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted flour
colored granulated sugar (I like green)
pecan halves
Preparation

Cream together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in vanilla. Gradually add flour to creamed mixture; mix thoroughly. Chill for ease in handling. Shape into 1-inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar and place on baking sheet. With bottom of glass, flatten to 1/4-inch thickness. Place pecan half into center of each cookie. Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 350\u00b0 until lightly brown. Cool slightly. Remove to wire rack to cool. Makes 6 dozen.
