Pickles From Overgrown Cucumbers - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. mature cucumbers, peeled and cut in slices or strips
    2 c. lime
    2 gal. water
    2 qt. vinegar
    3 1/2 lb. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 Tbsp. pickling spices
    1/2 to 1 tsp. red or green coloring (optional)
Preparation
    Remove seeds from cucumbers.
    Soak in crockery or enamel container for 24 hours with lime, dissolved in water.
    Rinse well. Cover with ice water and soak 3 hours.
    Drain well.
