Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. soda
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 egg yolk (reserve white)
1/4 tsp. vanilla
pecan halves
Preparation

Sift together flour, salt and soda.
Cream butter and brown sugar.
Add egg and egg yolk.
Blend in vanilla.
Add dry ingredients gradually; mix thoroughly.
Arrange pecan halves in groups of 3 or 5 on greased cookie sheet to resemble head and legs of turtle.
Mold dough into balls; dip bottoms into unbeaten egg white and press lightly into nuts.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
Cool and frost generously.
