Boiled Raisin Cake(Jesus Cake) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. raisins
    1 1/2 c. water
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. cloves
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 egg
Preparation
    Combine raisins, shortening and 1 cup water.
    Heat to boiling point; reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 5 minutes.
    Let cool to room temperature.
    Sift dry ingredients together.
    Beat egg in a medium size bowl.
    Beat in remaining 1/2 cup water and cooled raisin liquid.
    Mix in dry ingredients gradually; beat until smooth.
    Stir in cooled raisin mixture.
    Pour batter into greased 8-inch square pan.
    Bake for 35 to 40 minutes in a 350\u00b0 oven.
