Ingredients

3/4 c. shortening (part butter)
1 c. sugar
1 egg, well beaten
3 c. self-rising flour
1 tsp. flavoring
1/4 c. milk
Preparation

Cream shortening, flavoring and sugar together and add egg. Add flour and milk and mix well.
Chill dough for several hours. Roll out on lightly floured board to desired thickness (1/4-inch). Cut in appropriate shapes.
Sprinkle with sugar, if desired. Bake on ungreased baking sheet in moderate oven (350\u00b0) for about 10 minutes.
