Tea Party Lemon Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. margarine or butter
    1/2 c. homogenized milk
    juice of 1 large lemon
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    grated rind of 1 large lemon
    2 large eggs
Preparation
    Mix dry ingredients thoroughly.
    Cream margarine, 3/4 cup sugar and lemon rind, then beat in eggs thoroughly, one at a time. Stir in flour mixture, alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour.
    Stir until smooth after each addition.
    Turn into buttered 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan and bake in 350\u00b0 oven, about 45 minutes or until cake tester inserted in center of bread comes out clean.
    Stir 1/2 cup sugar and lemon juice together and spread over top of hot bread.
    Remove from pan after cooling, about 10 minutes.
