Ingredients

1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
3 well beaten egg yolks
1 c. blackberry jam
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c buttermilk
3 stiffly beaten egg whites
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Cook for 30 minutes.
Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar.
Add egg yolks and jam.
Beat well.
Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition.
Fold in egg whites.
Bake in 3 waxed paper-lined 9-inch layer cake pans.
Cool and frost with chocolate mocha or white icing..
