Molasses Crinkles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3/4 c. soft shortening or butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. dark molasses
2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
Preparation

Mix thoroughly shortening (butter), brown sugar, egg and molasses.
Sift remaining dry ingredients together and stir into the creamed mixture.
Mix well.
Chill dough for 1 hour.
Roll chilled dough into balls the size of large walnuts in the shell. Dip tops of balled dough into sugar.
Place sugar side up 3 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.
Sprinkle each cookie with 2 or 3 drops of water to produce a crackled surface on the cookie.
Bake cookies just until set but not hard.
Bake approximately 10-12 minutes at 375 degrees.
Makes 4 dozen 2 1/2 inch cookies.
