1/4 cup butter
2 cups water
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/2 t vanilla
1 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 t baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
1/2 cup dates, chopped
Whipped cream
Preparation

Cook butter, water, brown sugar and vanilla in a saucepan together for 10 minutes. Combine flour, sugar and baking powder and add to wet mixture to make a batter.
Mix batter with milk. Add pecans and dates. Top with whipped cream. Pour boiling syrup into 8x8 pan; drop batter by spoonfuls into syrup, Bake 20 minutes at 400 degrees.
