Ingredients

2 sticks butter, softened
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2 c. sugar
1 c. oil
5 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
Preparation

Cream the sugar, eggs, butter, vanilla and oil.
Add remaining ingredients.
Roll into a 1-inch ball.
Push down with glass that has been dipped in sugar (first press on dough, then in sugar and press on top of cookies to flatten slightly).
May sprinkle with additional sugar, if desired.
Bake 2 inches apart for 7 to 10 minutes at 350\u00b0.
Yields 3 dozen 4-inch cookies.
