Angel Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. active dry yeast
    1/4 c. warm water
    5 c. all-purpose flour
    1/3 c. sugar
    3 tsp. baking powder
    2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. shortening
    1 1/3 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    In a small bowl, soften yeast in warm water; set aside.
    In a large mixing bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda.
    With a pastry cutter, cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; mix well.
    Add yeast mixture and buttermilk; stir until combined.
    On a floured surface, knead mixture about 2 minutes or until smooth, adding more flour as needed.
    Roll out dough 1/2-inch thick.
    Using a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter, cut out 24 biscuits.
    Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake in a 450\u00b0 oven about 8 minutes or until biscuits are light brown on the bottom.
    Makes about 24 biscuits.
