Ingredients

3/4 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 Tbsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Melt and cool shortening.
Add sugar and molasses.
Add egg mix and beat well.
Sift together remaining ingredients.
Mix well with first mixture and chill for about 1 hour.
Form into 1-inch balls. Roll in sugar.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 5 to 10 minutes.
