Dutch Refrigerator Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1 egg
    2 1/4 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1/4 tsp. cloves
    1/2 c. finely chopped walnuts
Preparation
    Cream together shortening and sugar.
    Add egg and beat well. Sift dry ingredients.
    Stir into creamed mixture and add nuts. Shape in rolls about 2 1/2-inches across.
    Wrap in waxed paper and chill thoroughly.
    Slice thin, about 1/4-inch or less.
    Bake 1-inch apart on lightly greased cookie sheet at 375\u00b0.
    Bake 5 to 7 minutes or until lightly browned.
    Remove at once to rack.
    Makes 5 to 6 dozen.
