Russian Lentil Soup - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 (16 oz.) pkg. lentils
3 carrots, sliced or coarsely chopped
2 Tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 c. rice
2 Tbsp. oil
salt and pepper to taste
Preparation

In a large soup pot, put 16 cups of water, lentils and a teaspoon of salt and let boil for 1 hour.
After it is 1/2 cooked (half an hour), change the water (drain the water and add 16 cups more water).
Let cook until done.
In a skillet, pour oil and cook onion until golden brown; then add flour and saute a little more. Add the mixture to the lentils along with the carrots, rice and garlic powder.
Salt and pepper to taste.
(You can also add 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley for color.)
Cook until done (about 1/2 hour).
