Long Johns - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 yeast
    2 c. scalded milk or warm water
    3/4 c. butter or shortening
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. lemon extract or orange
    3 well beaten eggs
    flour
Preparation
    Dissolve yeast in 3/4 cup lukewarm water; add 1 teaspoon sugar and let stand for 5 minutes.
    Mix all ingredients and add enough flour to make a soft dough.
    Let rise 3 times, then roll to about 1/4 inch thickness and cut into desired shape.
    Bake in very hot grease.
    Frost with powdered sugar frosting, crushed crackers and nuts.
