Oatmeal Crunchies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 3/4 c. quick rolled oats
    1 1/4 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
    1 egg
    1/4 c. milk
    dash of mace
    1 c. shortening
    1 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Grease cookie sheets.
    Measure flour, soda, salt and mace into a sifter.
    Cream shortening with brown sugar until fluffy.
    Beat in egg and milk.
    Sift in flour mixture, blending well to make a thick batter.
    Fold in oats and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls about 3-inches apart on greased cookie sheets.
    Bake 12 minutes or until lightly golden.
    Remove from cookie sheet and cool completely on wire racks.
