Aunt Eva'S Soda Cracker Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 saltine crackers
    3 egg whites
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. vinegar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation
    Roll crackers to fine crumbs.
    Beat egg whites until stiff; add slowly 1 cup sugar, as for a meringue.
    Add baking powder, vinegar, vanilla and walnuts to meringue; fold in.
    Add cracker crumbs and fold in.
    Pile into well-greased pie pan and bake about 40 minutes at 300\u00b0.
    When cooled, can be refrigerated, even until next day.
    An hour or so before serving, whip cream and spread on top.
    Put in refrigerator until ready to serve.
