Hoppin' John - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 strips bacon, chopped
    1 (15 oz.) can Luck's black-eyed peas
    1/2 c. diced onion
    2 c. water
    1 c. uncooked rice
    1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    In skillet cook bacon until crisp.
    Drain away fat but 1 tablespoonful.
    Stir in remaining ingredients.
    Heat to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 20 minutes or until rice is done.
