Christmas Jewel Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 c. shortening
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. molasses
    1 egg
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. mace
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1/4 tsp. ginger
    1/4 tsp. allspice
    2 1/2 c. mixed candied fruit (1 lb.)
    2 c. nuts, chopped coarsely (1/2 lb.)
Preparation
    Heat oven to 325\u00b0.
    Mix shortening, sugar, molasses and egg. Stir dry ingredients together; blend into shortening mixture. Stir in fruit and nuts.
    Drop dough by teaspoonful about 1 inch apart on lightly greased baking sheet.
    Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Makes about 6 dozen.
