Floating Island - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. scalded milk
    2 eggs, separated
    1 Tbsp. artificial sweetener
    1 tsp. vanilla
    pinch of salt
Preparation
    Add well-beaten yolks to hot milk; mix well.
    Place
    in top part
    of double boiler.
    Cook until liquid\tcoats
    spoon. Cool quickly and add salt and artificial sweetener.
    Beat
    egg whites until stiff.
    Add 4 tablespoons of powdered
    sugar, one at\ta time,
    beating after each addition. Pour
    custard
    into dessert dishes.
    Put
    egg whites on top of each.
    Garnish with your favorite jam, jelly or fruit.
