Raised Donuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 c. boiling water
    2 eggs, beaten
    3/4 c. sugar
    2 tsp. salt
    1 c. cold water
    1/2 c. lukewarm water
    2 pkg. dry yeast
    7 1/2 c. flour
Preparation
    Combine shortening and boiling water.
    Stir until shortening is melted.
    Combine eggs, sugar and salt and beat in cold water. Soften yeast in lukewarm water.
    Combine three mixtures.
    Add to flour.
    Mix well.
    Cover and chill overnight in refrigerator. Roll and cut.
    Place on trays to rise (about double).
    Fry in hot oil.
    Turn over.
    Drain.
    Add sugar, if desired.
    Yields 3 1/2 dozen.
