Swedish Nuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. blanched almonds
    2 c. pecan halves
    1 c. sugar
    dash of salt
    2 stiffly beaten eggs whites
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
Preparation
    Toast almonds and pecans in slow oven (325\u00b0) until light brown.
    Fold sugar and salt into egg whites.
    Beat until stiff peaks form.
    Fold nuts into meringue.
    Melt butter in a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch jelly roll pan; spread nut mixture over butter. Bake in slow oven (325\u00b0) about 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes, or until nuts are coated with a brown covering and no butter remains in pan.
    Cool.
    Makes about 4 cups.
