Date-Nut Cake Roll - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 (8 oz.) pkg. whole pitted dates, chopped
1 c. water
1/4 c. sugar
3 eggs
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. ground allspice
dash of salt
3/4 c. finely chopped walnuts or pecans
1 to 2 Tbsp. powdered sugar
2 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/4 c. butter or margarine, softened
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. sifted powdered sugar
1 Tbsp. powdered sugar
additional walnuts or pecans
Preparation

Grease and flour bottom and sides of a 15 x 10 x 1-inch jellyroll pan; set aside.
Combine dates, water and 1/4 cup sugar in a saucepan.
Cook over medium heat until thickened (about 10 minutes); cool.
Beat eggs in a large bowl at high speed of an electric mixer for 5 minutes.
Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar, beating until smooth.
Add date mixture.
