Creme Brulee French Toast - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    1 c. brown sugar, packed
    2 Tbsp. corn syrup
    1 loaf French or Italian bread
    6 eggs
    1 3/4 c. half and half
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 Tbsp. Grand Marnier or brandy
    1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
    In a small saucepan, melt butter and add corn syrup and brown sugar.
    Simmer until bubbly.
    Pour syrup into a bottom of 9 x 13 x 2 inch baking dish and spread evenly.
    Thickly slice bread and arrange pieces over the syrup.
    In a large bowl, beat together eggs, half and half, vanilla, salt and liqueur.
    Pour evenly over bread, cover and refrigerate overnight.
    In the morning, remove French toast from refrigerator and preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Bake uncovered for 35 to 40 minutes.
    Cut into squares and serve hot with maple syrup.
