Grama Elwood'S German Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 pkg. Baker's German's chocolate (sweet)
1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. oleo or butter
4 egg yolks (unbeaten)
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. soda
2 1/2 c. sifted flour (Swans Down cake flour)
1 c. buttermilk
4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
Preparation

Melt chocolate in boiling water; cook and cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
Add egg yolks, one at a time, and beat well. Add melted chocolate and vanilla; mix well.
Sift salt, soda and flour.
Add alternately with buttermilk to the chocolate mixture. Beat until smooth.
Fold in beaten egg whites.
Pour into 3 (8 or 9-inch) cake pans, greased and floured.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes.
Cool.
