Molasses Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    1 Tbsp. ground ginger
    1 tsp. ground cloves
    1 tsp. ground nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. ground allspice
    1 c. soft shortening
    sugar
    salt
    water
    rum
    soda
    molasses
Preparation
    Sift together flour, ginger, cloves, nutmeg and allspice.
    Work shortening in a bowl until creamy.
    Add sugar and beat until well blended.
    Combine salt, water and rum; stir to dissolve salt.
    Stir soda into molasses and combine with water mixture.
    Add liquid mixture and sifted dry ingredients alternately to shortening mixture.
    Mix well after each addition.
    Cover and chill overnight. Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Roll a small portion of dough at a time.
    Place on a cookie sheet and bake.
