Vinegar Pie(Early Pioneers) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. vinegar
    2 c. water
    1 c. brown sugar
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1/2 c. flour
    water
    single crust for 9-inch pie
Preparation
    Combine vinegar, water and sugar and bring to a boil.
    Add butter and stir until it melts.
    Mix the flour with a little of the cold water until smooth.
    Add slowly to the boiling liquid and stir until thickened.
    Pour filling into pastry lined pie pan.
    Cover with strips of pastry in a crisscross fashion.
    Bake at 450\u00b0 for 16 minutes.
    Reduce heat to 350\u00b0 and bake 20 minutes longer.
