Asparagus Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. cider vinegar
    1 c. water
    1 tsp. salt
    2 envelopes unflavored gelatin, dissolved in 1/2 c. cold water
    1 Tbsp. minced onion
    1 (5 oz.) can water chestnuts, sliced
    1 c. chopped celery
    1 (14 1/2 oz.) can cut asparagus, drained
    1/2 c. grated carrots (optional)
Preparation
    Combine sugar, vinegar, water and salt.
    Bring to boil to dissolve sugar.
    Remove from heat.
    Add gelatin and onion to boiled mixture.
    Cool.
    Combine remaining ingredients and add to liquid.
    Pour mixture into large greased mold.
    Chill.
