Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 egg
    2 1/2 c. plain flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1 c. molasses
    1 c. boiling water
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and egg in a bowl.
    Sift flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger and cloves in another bowl.
    Mix molasses and boiling water in a 2-cup measuring cup.
    Add flour mixture and molasses mixture alternately to cream mixture, beating thoroughly for 2 minutes.
    Pour batter into greased and floured angel food pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 50 minutes or until done.
    Can be baked in a 9 x 12 inch pan for 40 minutes.
