Ingredients

1 1/2 lb. unsalted butter at room temperature
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. confectioner sugar
3 c. flour
2 c. cornstarch
Preparation

Cream butter, vanilla extract, salt and sugar together. Gradually add flour and cornstarch until mixture forms a dough. Divide into 5 equal parts.
Roll each on lightly floured board into cylinder shape.
Divide into 1-inch sections.
Roll dough into ping-pong size balls.
Press down with fork.
Garnish with slices of red and green maraschino cherries.
Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until edges turn golden brown.
Cool 10 minutes and serve.
Makes about 6 dozen.
