Apple Butter - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 lb. Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
    3 c. water
    3 c. sugar
    3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    1 (1 3/4 oz.) box powdered pectin
    1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
    1 tsp. ground allspice
    1/4 tsp. ground cloves
    1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
Preparation
    Combine apples and water in a large Dutch oven.
    Bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat and cook 20 to 25 minutes or until tender. Mash.
    Stir in remaining ingredients.
    Bring to a boil; cook 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
    Quickly pour into hot jars, filling to 1/4-inch from top; wipe jar rims.
    Cover at once with metal lids and screw on bands.
    Process in boiling water bath for 5 minutes.
    Yields 6 pints.
