Ingredients

1 c. Crisco
3 c. sugar
5 egg yolks
3 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. almond flavoring
5 unbeaten egg whites
Preparation

Cream Crisco and sugar.
Add egg yolks, blending well after each addition. Sift together flour, baking soda and salt.
Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk.
Add vanilla and almond flavoring.
Add last, 5 unbeaten egg whites.
Mix thoroughly. Pour into greased and floured tube pan.
Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes in 350\u00b0 oven or until cake tester comes out clean.
