Lois'S Family Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    2 c. sugar (white)
    6 egg yolks
    4 c. sifted flour (plain)
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    2 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. sour cream
    6 egg whites
    2 c. blackberry jam
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg yolks, one at a time. Mix well. Stir in jam. Add flour and spices-that have been sifted together three times-alternate with sour cream, ending with flour. Fold in egg whites that have been beaten to stage where peaks stand firm. Bake in 4-9 inch layers in moderate oven at 350\u00b0.
