Ingredients

1 pkg. dry active yeast
2 c. warm water
3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp. sugar or honey
Preparation

In a large nonmetal bowl, dissolve yeast in 2 cups of water (105\u00b0 to 115\u00b0).
Let stand 5 minutes.
Add 3 1/2 cups flour and 1 tablespoon of sugar and blend well.
Cover loosely with plastic wrap and a cloth towel.
Let stand in warm place (80\u00b0 to 85\u00b0) for five days, stirring at least once each day.
When the Starter is ready for use, it is bubbly and may have a yellow liquid on top. Stir well before using.
