Quick Tomato Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. olive oil
    2 garlic cloves, peeled and minced
    1 medium onion, peeled and chopped
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    2 (28 oz.) cans crushed tomatoes
    3 bay leaves
    2 Tbsp. chopped fresh basil
    1 tsp. parsley
    1 Tbsp. tomato paste
Preparation
    Heat the oil
    in a large saucepan over moderate heat.
    Cook the garlic and onion with salt and pepper until soft, about 10 minutes. Add the tomatoes, tomato paste and bay leaves. Bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook, uncovered, 15 minutes.
    Stir in basil and parsley. Cook an additional 5 minutes and remove from heat. Remove and discard bay leaves.
    (May be kept, covered, in refrigerator up to 3 days).
    Makes 5 cups.
