Syrup Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    1 c. boiling water
    1 c. syrup (cane)
    2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Mix sugar and shortening.
    Add eggs and beat well.
    Mix soda into syrup and add to mixture.
    Add 1 cup boiling water.
    In a separate bowl, add cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt to flour and sift.
    Mix small amount of flour to syrup mixture at a time until all is well blended.
    Bake in 13 x 9 1/4 x 2-inch pan at 375\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
