Ingredients

1 c. brown sugar, packed
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 tsp. soda
2 eggs (unbeaten)
2 c. oats
nuts
raisins (optional)
Preparation

Mix the first 5 ingredients.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.
Add flour and oats; mix thoroughly.
Add nuts or raisins, if desired.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 15 minutes.
Makes 4 dozen.
