Fried Green Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 egg, beaten
    1/2 c. milk
    1/2 c. cornmeal
    1/4 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    4 medium green tomatoes, cut in 3/8-inch slices
    4 to 6 Tbsp. cooking oil
Preparation
    Combine egg and milk in shallow dish; set aside.
    Stir together the cornmeal, flour, salt and pepper in another shallow dish.
    Dip tomatoes in egg-milk mixture, then cornmeal-flour mixture.
    In large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons cooking oil over medium heat.
    Arrange a single layer of tomato slices in skillet and cook about 2 minutes per side or until golden brown.
    Repeat with remaining tomatoes, adding additional cooking oil to skillet as needed.
