Caramels - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. oleo or butter
1 lb. (2 1/4 c.) brown sugar
1 c. light corn syrup
1 (15 oz.) can Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
dash of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Melt butter.
Add brown sugar and salt; stir until mixed. Slowly add milk, stirring constantly.
Cook and stir over medium heat until candy reaches 245\u00b0 (about 12 to 15 minutes).
Remove from heat.
Stir in vanilla.
Pour into buttered 9 x 13-inch pan. Cool and cut.
Wrap in wax paper.
