Blaukraut(German) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 medium heads cabbage
    2 heaping tsp. Crisco
    1 onion, chopped
    2 medium apples, chopped
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    5 to 6 Tbsp. red wine vinegar
    some beef broth
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Remove\t cabbage
    core.
    Shred\tcabbage
    finely.
    Saute onion in Crisco; add cabbage, apples, salt, vinegar and sugar. Add water or\tbeef broth.
    Stir well.
    Cover; cook over medium heat.\tAdd more liquid, broth or water, to keep from sticking. Cook until tender (1 to 1 1/2 hours).
