Chili Con Carne - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 tsp. vegetable oil
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 lb. beef
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
    1/4 tsp. ground cumin
    1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
    2 tsp. chili powder
    1/2 tsp. oregano
    1 tsp. salt
    2 (15 oz.) cans kidney beans, drained
    1 green pepper, chopped
Preparation
    Heat oil in a 3-quart saucepan over moderate heat for about 1 minute.
    Add the onion, green pepper, beef and garlic.
    Cook, uncovered, stirring frequently, for 7 to 8 minutes or until onion is soft and beef is browned.
    Add tomato sauce, cumin, cayenne pepper, chili powder, oregano and salt.
    Cover; reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes.
    If mix becomes too thick, add 2 to 3 tablespoons water, stirring occasionally.
    Add beans.
    Cover and simmer for 5 more minutes.
