Six Layer Vegetable Dinner - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 Tbsp. butter
    2 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced thin
    1 green pepper
    1 medium onion, diced
    1/2 c. rice
    4 carrots, sliced thin
    1 lb. ground beef
    salt and pepper
    1 (No. 2) can tomatoes
Preparation
    Put shortening in bottom of large casserole; arrange meat and vegetables in layers listed.
    Season as you go.
    Pour tomatoes over all.
    Cover and bake in slow oven (325\u00b0) for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
