Red "Waldorf Astoria" Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. Crisco
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    2 oz. red food coloring
    2 oz. cocoa
    2 1/4 c. cake flour, sifted
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. baking soda
    2 Tbsp. vinegar
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease and flour two 8-inch cake pans; set aside.
    With a mixer, cream Crisco and sugar; add eggs.
    Make a paste of food coloring and cocoa; add to sugar mixture.
    Sift together flour and salt.
    Add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture.
    Add vanilla.
    Remove from mixer; sprinkle baking soda and vinegar over top of batter.
    Fold very gently into batter until completely mixed together.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 40 minutes. When cooled, frost with White Fluffy Frosting.
