Aunt Rose'S Ginger Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 c. brown sugar (can use white)
    1 egg
    1/4 c. molasses
    2 tsp. soda (I use part baking powder)
    2 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. each: cinnamon and cloves
    2 tsp. ginger
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and egg.
    Add molasses; beat well. Sift dry ingredients and add.
    Chill dough thoroughly.
    Shape into 1-inch balls.
    Roll in sugar.
    Place 2 inches apart.
    Put a drop of water on each one.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
    Makes 4 dozen.
