Split-Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 ham bone
    1 (16 oz.) pkg. split peas, washed thoroughly
    2 carrots, thinly sliced
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1/4 tsp. whole allspice
    1/4 tsp. peppercorns
    1 bay leaf
    salt
Preparation
    In Dutch oven or large kettle over medium heat, heat ham bone, split peas, carrots, onion and 7 cups water to boiling.
