Fruit Cocktail Baked Dessert - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 egg, well beaten
    1 (1 lb.) can fruit cocktail, drained
    2 1/2 Tbsp. liquid from fruit cocktail
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Stir first 4 ingredients together.
    Add well beaten egg, fruit cocktail (drained), 2 1/2 tablespoons of liquid from fruit cocktail and vanilla.
    Stir lightly.
    Pour into lightly greased 8 x 8-inch pan.
    Over top, spread crumbled 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional).
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes.
    May be served with whipped cream, ice cream or lemon sauce.
