Ingredients

2 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 c. shortening
6 c. flour
2 tsp. vanilla
4 eggs
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Dissolve baking soda in a couple of teaspoons of water.
Cream together sugars and shortening. Add eggs and vanilla, then add the rest of the ingredients gradually. Divide into 5 rolls 8-inches long and wrap in wax paper.
Freeze. Slice off 1/4-inch thick. Place on cookie sheet and bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 10 minutes.
