Calico Beans - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 lb. ground beef
1/2 lb. bacon, diced
1 c. chopped onion
1/2 c. ketchup
2 t. salt
2 t. prepared mustard
4 t. vinegar
3/4 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
1 (30 oz.) can pork and beans
1 (15 oz.) can garbanzo beans, drained
1 (15 oz.) can kidney beans, drained
1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen lima beans, thawed
Strips of bacon for garnish (optional)
Preparation

Cook ground beef, bacon and onions in a large skillet until meat is browned and onions are tender. Drain meat only if there is an excessive amount of fat. Stir in ketchup, salt, mustard and vinegar. Combine remaining ingredients in a 3 qt. casserole, stir in meat mixture and cover. Bake in a moderate oven at 350\u00b0 for 40 minutes or until bubbly. Garnish with strips of bacon, if desired.
