Overnight Layered Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head iceberg lettuce
    10 oz. pkg. frozen peas
    1/2 c. green pepper, diced
    1/2 c. celery, thinly sliced
    1/4 c. green onions, sliced
    1 1/2 c. mayonnaise
    8 oz. can sliced water chestnuts, drained
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    4 oz. sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
    8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
Preparation
    Break lettuce into bite-sized pieces and place in a large clear glass bowl.
    Top the lettuce in layers with peas, green pepper, celery, onion, water chestnuts, mayonnaise, sugar and cheese.
    Cover and place in refrigerator for 8 to 24 hours. Before serving add bacon and toss.
